Happy Monday Let's Talk Styler's! If you didn't catch the Golden Globes last night, I'm here to give you the highs that rocked the red carpet and the lows that were trés misérables.
The envelopes, please...
Jessica Alba donned my favorite look of the night in a sublime silk faille trumpet gown by Oscar de la Renta. Some will call the shade coral, others will call it melon, my husband called it salmon fishing in the yemen. No matter what color you call it, it complemented Alba's skin tone to perfection, as did her Veronica Lake hair, Jimmy Choo heels and $5.8 million dollar Harry Winston diamond necklace.
Best Supporting Actress winner Anne Hathaway was a vision in white in a sleek beaded and strapless Chanel haute couture gown. Her creamy complexion, ladylike silhouette, doe eyes and posh pixie hair made her a modern day princess, a cross between Audrey Hepburn, Mia Farrow and Liza Minelli, all in one. At the end of the day she looked smashing.
Presenter Kate Hudson looked absolutely regal in Alexander McQueen's fitted black gown with glorious gold embroidery detailing at the neck and waist, and best post baby bod goes to Homeland's Best Actress in a drama series winner, Claire Danes, sporting a flaming hot Versace gown and vixenish hairdo. Oh baby.
Although Morena Baccarin was part of the winning ensemble for best drama series, she did not bring it homeland in terms of styling. Her matronly dress did nothing for her figure and the sequined black landing strip down the front did nothing for her cleavage. Next awards show, go shopping with your co-star Claire.
Simple note to Eva Longoria. Choose one super revealing slit per gown. Your Emilio Pucci was pretty on top, too Angelie Jolie leggy down below. A little bit of skin goes a long way, especially when you're a shorty like me.
Rachel Weisz Skyfalls to the bottom of my list, scoring a double 0 negative 7 for her black sheer polka dotted Louis Vuitton gown that seemed better suited for retro queen New Girl nominee, Zooey Deschanel. You're married to James Bond missy, time to step away from getups that are the equivalent of Quantam of sartorial solace.
