September 2013 Archives
Why is it that short weeks always seem to drag slower than a two hundred year old tortoise on xanax? This friday, I interrupt our regularly scheduled model posing to remind you that it doesn't have to be a holiday weekend in order to party like you're south of the border.
TGI-F it up with this ultra adorable set of 4 Mini Fiesta Pinatas from Anthropologie that will serve as a constant reminder that it doesn't have to be Cinco de Mayo to enjoy a margarita.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.*
No fashion tips, tricks or mundane musings today. I've had a heavy heart all day, thinking of the city that never sleeps and how I wish I was there right now, enjoying the view from the top of the Empire State building, a Broadway show, and of course, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week's Spring 2014 Collections (full report to follow soon).
I heart you Big Apple, today and every day.
We're almost at the mid-September mark, and if you're an overachiever like me, you've probably already started tossing around Halloween costume ideas. Since I have been lacking my usual stream of creativity while amassing a load of new expenses, I've decided to keep things cool and cheap this year with Gamago's Awesome party props.
Serving as the perfect starting off point for any homemade DIY ensemble, these kits come with 8 party props to a pack, so I'll have an octet of options to choose from. I can go all regal with a mini crown, find my inner argh with preemie sized pirate hats, I can embrace my spirit animal, or Paul Bunyon it up transgendered style with a burly beard.
Perfect for Halloween, a wedding photo booth, or to torture your pint-sized pet with on Instagram, get your own set of awesome props at PacSun for $11.95 each.

Another season of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has come and gone, and even though I'm aching to engage in my own autumnal shopping spree (i've missed you beanies, armwarmers, parkas and peacoats), I'm thoroughly excited to bring you all of my favorite trends that you can look forward to sporting come springtime/summer of next year.
It was nice to see that a number of recurring warm weather trends are still going strong, i.e. sporty chic, white on white, sheer delights... but here are the fab four trends that I will be all over come April.
Garden Party: Tea for two. I'm a sucker for a floral feminine frock, so I'm happy to report that you'll be seeing some ever so flattering floral prints blossoming everywhere, perfect for an outdoor wedding, bridal shower or brunch. Someone get this girl a mimosa. Look: Tory Burch
Belly Pride: If you've got the abs, flaunt 'em. The bare midriff trend is sticking around for another season, so crop it if you got it. Hint: Keep it classy with longer, more refined skirts. Look: Michael Kors
That 70's Show: Find your inner Farrah/Linda Lovelace with sexy decade inspired day dresses, high retro waisted denim, bell bottoms, 9 to 5 secretary bow-tie blouses and more Halston friendly throwbacks. Look: Michael Kors
Mint Julep: When it comes to spring shades, I like my color palette like I like my ice cream: cool, sweet and minty all over. Hold on to the mint chiffon blouse you wore all season long last year, because this pretty pastel hue is back with a vengeance. From chic dresses and cardis to nails, pumps and statement necklaces, add a pop of pistachio wherever you can get it and you'll look good enough to eat*. Look: Rachel Zoe
She excelled at two things: modeling and hoodwinking.
THANK GOD IT'S NAPTIME!
Sorry for the long hiatus my dear, devoted blog followers. I missed my yearly Emmy coverage (favorites = Rose Byrne and Kate Mara), a handful of quick tips and advice posts, but I'm back with a capital B.
The reason for my lengthy absence/break from blogging? Road trip. The hubby and I had a wedding in Kentucky and took a little rendezvous in Nashville because hey, we're Patsy Cline crazy that way. The wedding was fabulous and Music City, aka Nashvegas did not disappoint. While we barhopped our way along Broadway popping into historic clubs and catching a medley of country crooners do their thang, I discovered my newest fashion obsession. The cow
I always thought that in order to rock a hot pair of cow
boygirl boots you had to 1- be a country singer 2- have an Uncle Jesse/cousin Bo or Billy Bob in your immediate family or 3 - be proficient at line dancing. It turns out that I don't have to be Hayden Panatierre, Taylor Swift or Daisy Duke after all. All I need to play the part of the cute cowgirl is a good pair of comfy worn in boots that I can wear with cutoffs and sundresses in the summer, jeans, flannels and western shirts all fall and winter.
On the top of my honky tonk wish list? These Liberty Black Tan Tambors and Tony Lama's Vaquero Wingtip Square Toe Boots, both from PFI Western Wear. They're rugged, they're Urban Cowboy cool, they'll go great with this hot whipstitched belt.
Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
