A Top for All Seasons

with 0 Comments

Dear Sammy,

I don't like bulky clothes and big thick sweaters. Any good layering pieces that I can wear this winter and all year?

Dear Marisa,

I feel you. Even though I love being snug, I don't like feeling like a puffed up marshmallow in winter wear, especially due to my small stature. I ultimately end up looking like Ralphie's little brother via A Christmas Story with my arms sticking out at my sides, and I need help disrobing. It's très embarrassing.

I much prefer body con waffle tees, henleys and thermals than can be worn under a slim fit flannel or fitted sweater while still showing off my waist to hip ratio.

Although you may not be able to get use out of a waffle tee or thermal year round, this Alia Crepe Peplum from Johnny Was is the perfect transitional top that you can wear all through the seasons, under a long sleeved streamlined tee, under a flowing cardi, or to keep things fem under a rough around the edges military jacket. Silk juxtaposed with army surplus? So winter chic.

In short, look for pieces that will still show off your girlish figure and look good worn solo next spring and summer, while also allowing some extra room for underthings and overthings to keep you comfy come winter and fall.
